Hello,

I'm wondering, can I use GSI to help me diagnose a PC that has no Kaspersky product installed ?
Is it going to help ? Let's say, will GSI can detect if the PC has malware, or there are incompatible programs, etc even there's no Kaspersky product installed ?

Fantastic ! Thanks !

Remember, infections GSI detects is not the same as what Kaspersky detects.

Thanks dawgg,
Did you mean, GSI is using their own engine to detect infections ?
And if I use it on PC that had Kaspersky, do GSI use Kaspersky engine to detect infections or their own engine ?
dawgg
No. GSI partially has its own methodology and only scans certain folders (regardless of whether you have/had Kaspersky installed or not) - Kaspersky will scan more locations and is better at finding hidden malware such as rootkits.
The GSI is more for manual diagnosis.

You can use AVPtool if you want to scan using the Kaspersky engine (although it currently uses an older Kaspersky engine, so its Heuristics wont be as good as what you would get in Kaspersky version 2010, it still all the signature detection Kaspersky v2010 and all other versions have).
