Full Version: Upload of GSI log and privacy
Kaspersky Lab Forum > English User Forum > GetSystemInfo

I have just read some of the topic in this forum, where the GSI log is attached. The GSI tools are used for collecting information and upload to the forum. Just now, I read one of the uploaded logs. Here I can see everything related to the user’s computer: type, disk, OS, IP addresses, installed programs, events, hosts, windows registry and more.

What about the customer’s privacy? I would like to have some comments from Kaspersky regarding this practise. Personally, I would NOT upload my log to a public forum. Isn’t there any other option to get support from Kaspersky?

Thanks and regards,

Ole Martin

Yes maybe You are right, maybe those reports would be better to send by personal messages in the forum, but in the other hand it's a fast way You can get help by the other foums users, gettings advices about Your computer settings, etc... Of course it's Your own decision to send or not those reports if You want to get some support and help.

Just my opinium smile.gif

Also, please note that most of the forum members do not work for Kaspersky and just try to help other users in their free time. In case you want to talk with an employee of Kaspersky about your problem you should open a support ticket.

Same opinion.

Open a support ticket: http://support.kaspersky.com/helpdesk.html

Hi folks and thanks for your replies!

I am grateful for the work you do for the rest of us. It’s nice to have you around when problems occur. My worries go to the fact that to much private information is enclosed in the uploaded log file.

Thanks and regards,

Ole Martin

Are not gsi reports deleted after 90 days. In my opinion, that is an important safety feature.
JanRei
As far as I know GSI reports are indeed removed automatically after some time. However, I am not sure how long reports are retained currently. The walktrough claims 7 days which is a bit unlikely. Maybe Kamille meant 70 days which would be in accordance with an older forum post of him.

Apart from that, you should be able to delete reports yourself if you are a registered user.

I think it was at the moment 30 days. In my List i can´t view the report from the 12th August. The message was "you must upload it again".

Hi,

Jowi's right. It 30 days of retention.

Anyway you should create an account to delete it when you want.

JanRei
Thank you for the clarification. It would be great if the walktrough could be updated accordingly (-> "Uploading a report). smile.gif
Kamille
You're absolutely right !
