A co-worker of mine suddenly got this error message,

"You have exceeded the maximum number of application copies that can be installed with one license."

I bought a "Commercial for 3 computers" box. I know that the key hasn't been leaked out and that it had only been used on 3 of our systems. (Including this co-worker)

Any ideas on how I can fix this issue?

We're using "Kaspersky Internet Security 2010".

I'm from India and we bought the box from a local distributer here.

I believe the system date on the affected laptop is correct. (i.e. today's date)

I'm not sure what happened. I did register the issue with Kaspersky support yesterday and I was verifying that the key was never circulated around, when my co-worker suddenly tells me that it's started to work again.

i.e. it seems after a system reboot, Kaspersky is working fine. And the license is good too. So, I think it's an issue that got resolved.

But now, I just want to know what happened in the first place. Anyways, thanks for all your help guys. The replies were most useful.

I had exactly the same problem. One of the three legally-licensed (purchased through Kaspersky online) PCs that I have KIS 2010 installed on suddenly reported this error and deactivated itself. I checked everything previously suggested in this thread and my clock was/is correct. The problem went away after rebooting and has not reoccurred since but I'd like to understand why it happened. I've been running KIS 2010 for two months without a probelm after upgrading from 2009 which had been running almost a year. I opened a case with Kaspersky support but she was of no help. I'm sure my activation code hasn't been leaked but wonder if some hacker is generating keys somewhere.
