Since the online scanner dosen't work I downloaded Kaspersky antivirus 2009 and ran a scan. The scan found 7 threats and are shown in the threats detected page of program. What do I need to do next to clean them out? (remove them)
Thanks for you help. Larry blink.gif

Open Kaspersky, click "detected" (at the bottom) and click "disinfect all" on the bottom left.
Also, they may be vulnerabilities, see here for further information - http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=&am...st&p=633369

If that doesnt answer your question, please post a screenshot(s) to aid us to see what is there.

appearently the 7 thearts I found are Vulnerabilitys. I read the like you posted and it states I may have outdated files?
I will try to update foxfire, Adobe Shockwave, Macromed Flash Player. The other 4 files are DLL files in my temp folder. Can I just delete those from that folder? Thanks Larry unsure.gif

Also in the detect page list I am unable to disinfect because that button is grayed out.

No, DO NOT delete the vunlerable files - doing so may cause problems with the running of other programs.
Check the vunlerability website to see what the files are for and do as it says to update the vulnerable software. The .dlls may be related to other vulnerable software you are going to update anyway (FF, shockwave, or flash).

Thats fine, disinfect is grey because there are no active threats to disinfect.

I also found Vulnerabilitys today in a scan, check out the virus list site, downloaded the updates and still have the same problems with Java and Flash player. Tried to just update them that didn't help and then I removed the programs and then reload them, and they still comes up as a problems
Do I just leave them there or can I not use jave or flash?
Thanks,
marffin

Hi.

You can ignore the first one.
For the next 2 try to download this flash uninstall tool: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashpl...lash_player.exe

Reboot then go to adobe site and install current flash player. If you use both IE and other browsers then you would have to install flash separately for IE and other browsers. Here is the site for other browsers, firefox, opera, etc. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
To do it for IE just go to the same site only while you are using Internet Explorer.

Hello I have managed to remove number 2. from above quote, but not numbers 1. and 3. Any other ideas. Thanks Larry

Hi. You can manually delete temp file mfpl7014.dll
Just follow the file path in your post.

As I said before, and it has been mentioned many time on this forum, you can just ignore #1 if you have tried all of the update steps. It is safe to do so and prudent also.
Larryvan
Thank You for your help on this issue. You have been patient with me, and I won't bug you for awhile! Later Larry

Hi Larry, no bother at all.

The winSxS detection is a problem with Microsoft. It is no problem to just ignore it, so you can relax about that one. You can do a forum search for msxml4.dll and you will get all sorts of conflicting information about this. smile.gif

So are you still getting the #3 on the scan?

Got the flash uninstall and the update. Did another scan and that worked. For the java it does say that I have the most current ver. on Java's site.
So I will just forget it.
Thanks again,

For java, sometimes older versions are not removed when upgrading to current version. Just go to your control panel and uninstall any other old java items.
