I was just in my local PCWorld looking at the silly pricing options of KIS10 and a couple next to me were also comparing different products. I mentioned I was a Kaspersky fan & they said they were concerned that KIS10 didn't have a firewall!!! I said it must do but they pointed out that the box does not mention this important part, whereas all other products, including KIS09 mention it specifically. As a result, they didn't buy it & I went home to check as well. Maybe whoever designs the box should have their wrist slapped for this ommission?

hello
it's mentioned here:
http://www.kaspersky.com/comparedo you have a picture of the box somewhere?
I can take a photo of the box, but it probably won't come out very clearly - silver on green is difficult to capture. Suffice to say that on the KIS09 box 'firewall' is specifically mentioned under 'includes' on the front. On the KIS10 box, there's less information on the front, it's in smaller text and there's no mention of 'firewall. On the back of KIS09 it lists '2-way personal firewall', there's no mention anywhere on the KIS10 box.
Hi, uploaded imagess to Flikr - the attachment limit is too small

edit: seems Flickr doesn't save in original resolution, so may still be unclear - sorry, have to take my word for it or get a box sent.

it says it protects you against network attacks and intrusions. that's a firewall right there
Yes, I know that, & you know that, but because the actual word 'firewall' has been omitted, these other potential customers were sure it wasn't included. I'll bet they're not the only ones as well, because 'firewall' is a commonly known term that, as far as the consumer is concerned, means 'protection'. Also, the 'two way' mention on the KIS09 box is important because Windows firewall protects against attack & intrusion, & we know what the opinion is of that.....

actually, if you put it like this, the word anti-virus was also omitted, the only anti- thing is spam and phishing. Basically customers don't care what it's called, they want protection against: this, this, this and so on, and that's written at the top right part of the box
That's fine, you are obviously happy that the information on the box is adequate - I was just pointing out that in my opinion, and that of the customers I first mentioned, it plainly isn't. You have a look at the retail boxes of your rivals and 'Firewall' is in big print on all of the ones I've checked - that's what drove the customers away from KIS to a competitor (they said they already has KIS9 & weredisappointed that "the firewall had been dropped"!!. I'm simply the messenger & haven't got the time or enthusiasm to prolong this discussion - I've made my point, the rest is up to the marketing department.
Incidentally, I would have replied earlier, but the e-mail notification doesn't appear to work.

I think Kaspersky means Firewall is to simple to say since internet security has become such an complex thing and meanwhile its much more
than a Firewall...
But with "normal" users / customers my personal experience is the same as yours so maybe its really better
to drop the word Firewall on the marketing material...
Greetings Stranger
Kaspersky Labs utilizes layers of protection, so calling a module Firewall alone would not be right. The current v2010 is tightly integrated with other components and the logic of operation has changed dramatically (based on the principle of less user interruptions)
