I have an odd problem in a test environment of a server and workstation.

I have Kaspersky Admin 6.0.1710 and I am trying to test the removal of third party antivirus utilities from the test machine, probably one of the most vital functions and one that will save us a hell of a lot of time. However, I tried with McAfee Virus Scan 8 and a current version of NOD32 Internet Security and each and every time the task fails to remove the software. It says that it is operating and then gives completed status about 10 seconds later, except it hasn't actually done anything. The network agent is installed and running, and I can deploy the Kaspersky Antivirus product fine. It's just removing that doesn't seem to work.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have the right ini-files for the installed products?

dn3d
I honestly don't know... it's just a standard install...
Helmut
During creating the product uninstall task you will be asked for the third party application. Then you must select the right version.
dn3d
I did. Both times, and it didn't remove either products...

Look under c:\program files\InstallShield Installation Information\ if you find any entries from McAffe or NOD.

This tool gives you the result in readable format.

Hi.

Please provide MSI products for McAfee and Nod32 code using myuninst tool.
I'll have a look if we have something for ya smile.gif

Also provide which version is installed (don't forget to add exactly buildno.)

Hi, I have just done some researching and what I can see the Admin Kit has done is partly uninstalled the McAfee. When I try to access it using the tray icon I can't, stating it has been uninstalled. The only thing I can access using the tray icon is the program info. However, all the McAfee processes appear to be running. I'm a bit baffled by this one. It isn't listed in add/remove now either.

I will try your suggestion dawinci.

Hi.

Find attached desired uninstallation script for McAfee.

Ectract the file into the %AdminKitSetupFolder%\Nagent\Data\Cleaner

- restart Administration Server service (through the Services snap-in)
- create a new task for Application: Kaspersky Administration Kit, Task type: Product deinstallation task
- in the task wizard you select the uninstall task for external application and find necessary application name in the drop-down menu (after you added new ini file, there you will have corresponding new entry).

Feel free to post results smile.gif
