We run Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations version 6.0.3.837 across all of our workstations. We are recently upgrading some of our high-end graphics workstations and are switching to 64-bit Windows XP to make use of the memory above 4GB.
We have noticed a couple of unusual problems that only occur when Kaspersky is loaded:
1. When the computer is left unattended for a period of time, the screen saver comes on and locks the machine. After a further delay the screen is switched off. It is difficult to work out exactly when this occurs, but when resuming from this state the logon screen becomes locked and unresponsive (Ctrl + Alt + Delete does not work). This occurs whether a user is logged on or not. It is also not possible to connect the Event Viewer from my admin workstation - The computer has to be hard reset.
2. Sometimes the update task locks up. The system tray icon constantly shows an update occuring even though nothing is actually happening. When the software is in this state it is not possible to shutdown the machine - Again it must be hard reset.
3. If I manually start a scan task (from the admin server), but then decide to cancel it, I cannot then re-run it as it thinks it is still running... odd. It works again after a reboot.
The above 3 symptoms are the only ones I can pin down exactly, but there is certainly some sort of compatibility issue. I canot be sure whether it is the network agent or the av software, but it certainly seems to relate to the Update task.
Has anyone experienced these issues? any ideas? I have no option but to remove Kaspersky until a solution is found...
Agent Version: 6.0.1572
AV Version: 6.0.3.837
Admin Kit Version: 6.0.1572
This is an error event when the update task fails - Unfortunately it gives no details - It will continue to fail from this point onwards.
