Full Version: Internet very slow due to Kaspersky on ISA Server

We have installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.6 for Microsoft ISA Server 2004/2006 Standard Edition (v5.6.1281.0) on ISA 2006 Server to complement the Standard Kaspersky Windows Client.

However, since doing so the Internet has basically ground to a halt. It's extremely slow and we are getting a lot of complaints about the speed of the internet, as well as some internal websites.

We just used the standard settings out of the box.

When we turn the Kaspersky ISA Software off the speed goes back to normal.

What settings should we tweak to sort this issue or is it better just to remove the ISA Server console?

Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,

You must have a look at the administrator guide and search about the keyword "performance".

Please try to install new version Kav for ISA.
You can download it there

Tybilly,

Thanks for that link to the pdf.

I did have a look through it for performance and while it does tell you that you can change the settings however it does not say what affect it has and how vunerable it would leave you. A very poorly worded document if I'm being honest.

I'm just wondering how everyone else runs their system and what settings they use and would recommend?

Alexander,

I would install the new version but the version I have is the latest version according to Kaspersky's Technical Support website and although I could be tempted to try it. I'd rather it was made official first and is supported.

Cheers

BurnStewart,
We're having exactly the same behavior as you told.
The only thing we could make work is the streaming audio/video, using groups & policies to exclude that objects from scanning... sad.gif

Any ideas will be highly appreciated.

we use kaspersky for isa 2004 ee. And in the past it was really really slow. We contact kaspersky-support and were searching for a solution...in the end we re-install the hole environment. Now the performance is acceptable....but not really good tongue.gif next year (when our contract will be end) we definitely change our environment and won't use kaspersky anymore tongue.gif
if you've the possibilty to bring it back...do it!

it seems that they've problems with the windows nlb....try to use only one server and you will see...

so long...

Have submitted a case to Kasperksy Technical Support, this is critical to their reputation.

I can see us changing our Security Vendor if this is not resolved.

Kaspersky are not interested in solving the problem....

According to them in order to scan the downloaded traffic, the whole part of the file must first be downloaded. Then it is scanned.

They say other anti-virus companies let the file parts through without scanning the whole string.

Wonder how they'd react to the news that they don't scan things properly.
