Full Version: KAV deployment using scripts during workstation build process

Hi all

I'm currently having problems with PCs going out onto the network without any AV protection on them. We, theoretically, have Kaspersky set up to automatically add protection to workstations as they join the domain, but this has been very patchy and I do not like this approach.

We have a very scripted workstation build process (i.e. not cloned, but scripted) and all our workstations go through these scripts as they are built. I want installation of AV to be part of this process, but I'm struggling.

I want to be able to deploy KAV and/or the network agent through a script so that the workstation is automatically connected to the adminsitration server without any human intervention.

I have come across the following hurdles:

If I run \KLSHARE\Packages\NetAgent 6.0.1405\setup.exe alone, I get the wizard that prompts for the server details. If I run this with the /r switch to record the settings to an ISS file, it doesn't bring up the dialogue. Therefore, I have no way of using the /r functionality.

Similarly, for the \KLSHARE\Packages\KAVWKS6 6.0.3.837 package, I can use msiexec to install to the workstation, but seemingly have no way to point the installation at the server.

If anyone can shed any light on this, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks

Oli
Helmut
For the netagent use this command:

"\\COMPUTER_NAME\Share\NetAgent 1.0\lsexec.exe" /S

You are using an very old adminkit. The actual version 6.0.1710.

Which version of server you are trying to install KAVFS or KAVFSEE?

Hi Helmut

Thanks for the quick response. The /s command will indeed install it, but will give no opportunity for entry of the server name. As I understand it, /r should be used to record the settings in the setup.iss file, but when I use /r setup does the same as /s.

I've not installing file-server protection at the moment -- just WS. Our KAK server is 6.0.1405. The thought of upgrading yet again doesn't bear thinking about -- I'm under-staffed and the guy who normally deals with AV is going to be away from the office for a while. I'd rather switch products than go through the hassle of a server upgrade again. Sorry to whine.

Thanks

Oli

If you install the network agent with

lsexec /S

as already mentioned by Helmut, the installation is performed with the settings you defined in the remote installation packet in the administration kit.

But I suggest, you update the administration kit to 6.0.1710 first.

Oh, awesome. Thanks very much for your help. I had taken a look in that file but hadn't looked closely enough to figure out that was happening. Thanks also Helmut -- I hadn't realised there was already an answer file in that folder.

How bout a script for Workstation Package?

Since the script for Net Agent is \\Computername\klshare\Packages\NetAgent 6.0.1710\lsexec.exe" /S
