So, we're testing out KAV Admin Servers, and things are going relatively fine. But now I'm looking for an understanding of how KAV Server defines things.

We run an extensive VPN since we have three separate international sites. KAV Server works wonderfully with the VPN, finding all of our workstations no problem, be they in the US all the way to the Middle East.

However, I'm setting up Mobile policies for all my users on laptops, who would be going out into the great big world beyond our servers, working with clients and consumers, and I realize I'm not quite sure how KAV defines "mobile".

When in the office, they get private IPs. When outside, they have the VPN, which routes them to private IPs. But does KAV base it's mobile identity to the IP of the workstation? Or the route to the server?

With a VPN, wouldn't in theory the workstations never be "mobile"? Thus defeating the purpose of mobile settings? Or is KAV Server smarter than that, and has things set up internally to understand it's route to the server has changed, and thus set's it's policies accordingly?

Any insight would be much appreciated

Hi,
Mobile policies means, that you define settings for pc's or laptops, those havn't access to administration kit.
For example: You define the update source for yor LAN clients to ADMINSERVER and with the mobile policies you define, for example,
the update source to KLUpdateServers in internet (because the client, those havn't access to admin kit, couldn't get updates from adminserver)
Kind regards!

Moreover, Net Agent uses to connect to the AK Server every 15 minutes by default. After 3 times NA is not able to detect AK Server, Mobile Policy is loaded automatically.
