Thank god you guys are making a Mac version! I am a Channel Partner of yours and sell KIS to my Windows based clients, but as a Mac user myself I am happy to see a Mac version. My first impressions are as follows:

1) Activation via key does not work. I used the key file that was listed on ( http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=119166 ). I also tried one of my keys from my Windows boxes (didn't think it would work, but thought i'd give it a try). When I submit the key file, it tells me this is for '0' computers without any expiration date -- see screen shot below.

2) In the Preferences, I like how you require user authentication prior to making changes. A request would be to once I unlock one tab, please unlock the others for this session. Saves having to unlock each individual tab.

3) Ability to remove the icon from the Dock, and have it up next to the clock.

4) The new interface is nice, but honestly is not very intuitive. I am a firm believer that a GUI should be understandable by a complete stranger to the system without explanation.

Aside from these comments, keep up the great work and I know when the Mac version is released it will be the best just like your Windows version is the best AV on the market!!!!

Hello and thanks for testing our product.

1. Please try to use this key: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=&am...t&p=1027985
2. OK, I'll include it in requirements for future development.
3. That is done already, we've moved app icon from dock to menu bar. You'll see it very soon here.
4. I totally agree with you, can you suggest some changes to make GUI more intuitive?

Reports-->Events-->Clear All button
This button does not appear to work.

I am still trying to think of some design ideas to submit to you. My first impressions is the design is dated, this concept of design was very popular about 10 years ago (personally never liked it back then). I would suggest either use the KIS Windows version as inspiration, or if you want a 'Mac' look you could design one that has an iTunes look, but I feel that is being overdone with too many apps trying to look like iTunes.

Which ever way you go, I recommend (in an honest attempt to help make this the best app out) passing on the current design.

Thank you, it's very interesting, bright, intensive. It's too late now to redesign GUI (it's really not only about drawing pictures), but we will take your idea into consideration for sure for the next versions of Kav for Mac.

I understand it may be late in the product development cycle, but honestly the current GUI design will confuse users and in the end slow down sales. If a customer cannot understand the 30 day demo of KAV he isn't going to purchase the full version.

I understand the situation and thanks! smile.gif

I just got KAV for Mac so I am not sure if this was posted before. If my system was not ever infected with any virus why does it say "All threats have been successfully eliminated." It almost seams like I had virus before. Maybe this is just me but it sounds like that to me...

The comments below concern the newest beta release of KAV for Mac.

1. The 'clear all' function in 'reports' doesn't work for me at all!
2. GUI is awful - very confusing. Please make it similar to KAV for Windows.
3. Having used KAV for Windows, the grey icon makes me think KAV for Mac is not active/working, which clearly is not the case. Please make the icon red and black. It turnes out that the grey KAV icon becomes more grey if KAV not on.
4. Very slow load time at the start-up - other anti-viruses for macs load much faster.
5. The 'roar' when a virus is detected is a bit odd, in my humble opinion. I just don't know why a roar, and not a siren or something else.
6. There's no consistency where it comes to the Update, Scan and Licence, Green/Yellow/Red Protection Status buttons on the main screen - they nicely pop up, but some of them are bigger, others smaller, and only the Green/Yellow/Red Protection Status button has the Mac control buttons, of which only 'minimise' works.
7. Turn Protection On/Off - they swap round after you select options, so there is no consistency. How about if you had a 'tick' next to the one that is active, rather than deactivate them (grey)? Or keep them in the same place.
8. I presume KAV for Mac has Windows viruses signatures, too? Well, I have MacOS and Windows XP installed on my Mac, but QuickScan only scans Mac HD, but doesn't touch the Windows HD (system; system32 etc folders). Should it quick scan both? Should there be an option for the user to decide if QuickScan both or just MacHD or WindowsHD?
9. Is there any protection regarding accessing dodgy sites? Like KAV url type of thing included in KAV for MAC? If not, perhaps it'd be a good idea to include something like that, too?
10. With regard to the post above on 'All threats have been eliminated' - what is the 'Go Back' button for? Is it ever active?

Some of my comments reflect my personal taste. Overall, i'm very happy that Kaspersky is working on KAV for MAC. Well done.

And i forgot to add,

the percentage does not always change for me on the menu bar during an automatic update - it sticks. and it's not synchronised if you press the Security Status button on the main screen after the first install and see the update function (in %) on the menu bar at the same time.

i seem to have two preferences in the menu bar

And ... say you have Firefox running, or indeed OpenOffice, or any other application that takes the whole screen (this is important). Choose 'Preferences' from the KAV menu bar. Click on the padlock to lock. Then click on the padlock to unlock. Provide the admin password. The preferneces window disappears - it hides behind the Firefox or OpenOffice screen.
