Hi

I have a huge problem and need some help.I installed the network agent via the adminkit and then went on to install the antivirus via the same route.Once the AV is installed the system does a restart and after that the pc cannot access any other computer on the network and i cannot ping the pc from another pc.

This is a big problem because the pc's i am installing to is not in the same building or even in the same town as i am. I know have to pay someone to go out and fix the problem for me as i can no longer access the pc at all.

I have installed about 65 pc's without a problem but now all of a sudden i amm getting more and more of these pc's that after the restart that becomes like an island. These pc's cannot access our server and i cannot access it via the network.

I am running Kaspersky Anti Virus Version 6 (Open Space) and the latest version of the admin server .

PLease please help.

Hi,

There may be an issue related to the KAV NDIS filter on this computer.
You can run the GetSystemInfo utility and see if you can upgrade driver of network adapters, otherwise you can reinstall KAV without this filter.

Hi

Thanks for the post but how do i get hold of the pc remotely again? Do i have to visit each one of the pc's? Is there no other way around this?

Thanks

You should at least move in front of 1 PC to check if the solution I proposed you is effective. If yes, then I'm afraid you'll have to fix this on all computers but you can change your installation package then all your future deployment will include this fix.

Hi

Could you direct me to a link that will show me how to do this? Could i do it from the admin kit?

Thanks

Hi,

There's no FAQ to which describe step by step how to do that, but it's not so complicated:

On your Administration Server, open Windows Explorer and browse the following directory \Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\KLShare\Packages\
Then open the folder corresponding to your installation package of KAV 6 WKS, it should be something like "KAVWKS6 6.0.3.837".
Open the file kav6.kpd which is in the root of this installation package with Notepad, and change the installation command (setup.exe ...)by adding this parameter: /pNOKLIM5=1 (like in the picture attached).
Save changes and that's it, deploy your package with AdminKit like before.

Hi

Thanks for all the help. Am i correct in saying that if i edit the file with the parameter that you gave me that it will disable the ndis driver? I have done some reading about it and it seems that the ndis driver is causing the issue. I have also seen that disabling it will bring back the network. If this will not disable the ndis driver then please help me to do this as i do believe that this is my problem. I dont need the ndis driver as i only need antivirus protection and not anti hack or the others.

Thank you

Rudi

No it will not disable it, NDIS filter will not be installed at all. An alternative method will be used to catch network packets.

You can disable it, if computers are running under Windows XP (not Vista).

Hi

I edited the file like you said but it still installs the ndis driver. How can i have it not install it at all?

Thanks

Hi,

Double check that you've modified the right kpd files (take care to pick up the right one) and that you changed the file like shown in the picture (it's maybe case sensitive I think).
Also if you have several installation packages, check that you modified the right one.
Helmut
You can create a package without NDIS.

Read this. Second post.

Uhmm just a thought,
when you installed the AV, did you have specific permission or have you created a policy to turn off the firewall on the Ant Hacker section of settings?
I had same problem, and I just found out that the firewall settings in Kaspersky is activated.

Hi

I have a policy that turns off the firewall on computers in that group that i am installing to. But when i restart the pc after the install the pc looses network connectivity and i cannot manage it remotely. This is very important for me not to loose the ability too manage them as they are not even in the same city as i am and there is no way for me to get to them to do fault finding. I have read up about the issue and the NDIS driver is the cause of the problem as far as i can gather from all the posts i read.

All my effort to try and not install the NDIS driver has failed. I have followed all the advice that was offered to me but so far it has not worked.

Please could someone help me resolve this issue.

Thanks

Rudi
Helmut
Did you uninstall the application before you install KAV again?

I know that the advice I posted before is working correctly.

Hi

I do uninstall and restart everytime i do the install/uninstall. Please see my attached file that i edited. Please see if i did not maybe make a mistake.

Thanks for all your help.

Rudi

Helmut is absolutely correct.

Furthermore you can try to remove existing NDIS with adminkit (create uninstallation task). I attached you an ini file for this job.

Copy attached file to "%program files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Administration Kit\Nagent\Data\Cleaner“ and close adminkit mmc. Restart adminkit server service and connect to adminkit. Create a new uninstallation task and find "Kaspersky NDIS Driver for Support" in dropdown menu.

Hello,

The command which is executed is wrong:

Citation (Rudi Ludick @ 16.07.2009 09:53) *
Params=/s /v"/qn AKINSTALL=1 NOKLIM5=1"

It should be :
Code
Params=/s /v"/qn AKINSTALL=1" /pNOKLIM5=1
