The HKLM\init\Launch200 key still points to \Program Files\Kaspersky Labs\KAVMain8.exe
after the programs/data and keys should have be removed.

I'm now testing other Mobile Av programs and don't
want conflicts. How I safely remove the leftover keys and
files relating to KMS8 that the uninstaller forgot to remove
I do have the original installion code numbver i put in at
installation.

have you got a script or uility to find and remove to bits
left over after what the uninstaller reported as successfully
removed? dash1.gif bc.gif

We think too many software houses forget that happens
enough to be a headache. A manual cleanup script or
cab should be provided if requested for products that
change how the OS behaves at such a basic level as
to prevent even a safe mode boot.

Are you able to remove it manually?

After the last failure to completely remove, I again did a full restore,
whic restored the KMS8 application. I then again attemped removal

steps:
signed onto anti-theft, with key;
exited application;
used normal WinMo remove program screen;
that prompted me for the original install key,
which I gave it, then told it to remove everything,
to dispayed a 'busy cursor' for 2 hours and was still going
when I needed to go to sleep -- so I rebooted to safe mode
and re-restored again to have a working phone.

If the app can not be removed cleanly, do I have to
cold reset and rebuild the phone manually to remove it?

That seems like an awfull lot to ask after a trial install.

*sigh*

That's why a post removal (failed or not) utility is needed
to remove the 'mouse droppings' not removed by removal.
Something that in safe mode will remove 'leftovers' from
the registry and any unremoved files and directories.

to be honest; Sprite Terminator which does what
anti-theft does also is 'unremovable'. I'm also
asking them for the same sort of post-removal
utility to clean up its left overs.

That should be "it displayed".

You can remove that key using a register editor.
Fuzzynco
Yes I can remove the HKLM/init/... key and its value.

The uninstall request;

.. WinMo Pro 6.1 remove programs
...... prompted for original code [provided]
...... run for 2+ hrs (wait cursur turning)
............. Should the uninstall funtion take that long?

Are you saying that once the above process ends
and the HKLM\init\ key is removed that KMS8 is
completely removed?

I was able to get a report from SMS-Stealth
that was sent to my own phone as an SMS
but it placed me in the Middle East, I'm in
Eastern USA. Still can't get SMS-Find
to send any response either SMS to the sending
phone or email to the requested email address.

I think so

K -- I started getting cab's, exe's and .msi's together to prepare for
a full reinstall of the phone from cold start reset.

I don't understand why you can't build an uninstaller software
to force remove a corrupted install -- possibly offer a link
to a web site the customer inputs the original registration
code and is given the software and emailed a code to enter
for that 1 shot software (repair .cab or .exe).

Observationally, both your Anti-theft and Sprite's
Terminator do more or less the same thing ...
and appear to have the same problem with
users losing their removal key.

That forces us to have to cold boot and
rebuild the system and reinstall apps and
restore data from backups.

I'll start the removal process again tonight
and let it run as long as it wants to -- checking time
to see how long it takes -- guessing at least
overnight unsure.gif

It seems akward to have to do all that (uninstall appl / manually edit registry) in order to be able to
to do a clean restore of a full backup in safe mode. Perhaps some sort of code based (typed in code)
command to toggle it to 'suspended' (works only when in airplane mode (all radio's off)) and safe-mode
is active. SO the files can be overwritten with the backup image's data.

its unlikely under those conditions much more than a backup or restore would be happening.

Removal appears to have been successfull.
