Full Version: rpcnet - is it a virus?

Hi

We run KAV 7.0.0.125 on all our machines in the office and I am having trouble with several of them detecting rpcnet from the system32 folder being detected as a heur.generic.trojan.

Having looked into this file - it seems that it is part of Computrace Tracking software, therefore I don't want to remove it, in fact - as far as I am aware if it is deleted by KAV it just reappears after reboot.

So first question - how do I stop this file being constantly highlighted as a virus?

Also, slightly more worryingly at least one of the machines doesn't have the computrace software installed, so is this file an actual virus?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

OK thanks - as we are a small business I thought I was in the right place - sorry! Do I need to repost or move this thread?

Do you mean send the rpcnet file to Kaspersky?
Helmut
It´s ok so.

Yes send this file to Kaspersky as a password protected zip-file. Write this password into the mail. You will get an answer in a very short time.
