My deployment of KAV is going fine so far, ay.gif but have come accross a problem i'm a little stumped on. sleep.gif

When the Admin Kit scanned the network it added some machines that weren't switched on at the time. I assume it pulled these from Active Directory.

Now, a couple of weeks later, i've switched on the PC's that were off at the time of the scan, but they still show as offline and don't have any ip address, os type, visible, or status information in the admin kit. When I try to push the AV to the PC's, they fail.

How can I get the Admin Kit to update the information about the PC's that are now onlineso I can push the installation to them? I thought a synchronize would do it, but it doesn't.

Also, I'm assuming if a PC changes it's IP address then it will also change in the admin kit so it's always uptodate?

Thanks

Carl

Hi Carl.

I'm also having the same partial problem with some PCs not registering any information and would also like to know how they answer your post.

For the auto-update of IP changes, the answer I've found is no. We changed our IP scope a couple weeks ago and since then our admin kit stopped working with the workstations, the end of last week I finally got the IPs to change by messing with every option I could as the rescanning that was advised didn't work. Though with the IP change, other problems have arose that I won't post here to hijack your thread, just warning you to only change the IPs if you really HAVE to.

I don't plan on changing any, but thanks for the heads up. I just can't seem to get it to pick up the details for these machines that are now switched on. As you say IP changes have had problems, I hope it's ok if they get a new DHCP ip address in the same range.
Ingle
Yeah, that's alright. Being on DHCP before the IP change didn't have any adverse effects for me.

Hello,

It can be a stupid question but have you installed Network Agent on this computer ? Then you'll be sure all information will be transferred to the Administration Server.
If computers are showed as offline (light red or light gray) then it means that communication with these hosts is not possible, in this case check that Network Agent is well-installed.

@Ingle, if your network agent has been configured to connect to the Administration Server using its IP Address, then it seems normal that communication is impossible after a modification of this IP Address.
Ingle
Yeah, that was one of the first things checked. In my case at least, Network Agent as well as Workstation AV has been uninstalled and reinstalled. Both remotely and locally a few times. I've devoted my work day today to try and resolve this.
GriffGB
The network agent isn't on the PC's i'm having issues with. They were offline at the time of the admin kit added them to it's inventory. Now they've been switched on I want to actually install the network agent and AV onto them through the admin kit, but it doesnt' show these machines's IP address, and an installatino fails.

It this information I need to get updated so the install works.

How can I install the network agent, if it doesn't have the information for the machine? Other than visiting the machine and installing it manually from the share on the server?
GriffGB
Thanks phr3n1c. I've taken a look and some of them look like good info. Whether or not they'll correct the problem or not, we'll see. smile.gif

How to add a client computer to the logical network - Computer is already added to the admin kit. (Just lacks info)

Can Anti-Virus and Network Agent version be upgraded or installed via Group Policy? - It's on option. although a pain to do for one of two machines it's workable perhaps.

Product deployment task using login script-based install - Maybe one to look at. Although the line "The account for which the application installation is assigned should have rights of the local administrator on the computer" suggests to me that the user logging needs to have local admin rights. This isn't an option obviously.

How to write manually Network Agent remote installation in user login-script? - This may be one way to go, or at least I could get the user to run this. I wonder how the the network agent knows where the admin kit is. Maybe it knows where it was installed from. Hopefully this will update the information missing in the admin kit.

However, all these may be acedemic as they now seem to show IP address in the admin kit. It has taken around 24hrs to show, which is enough time for a virus or other nasty to attach it, but at least it's now showing. I'll try pushing the installation and see how it goes.

I will be keeping a bookmark on those links though, so thanks for those again.
