Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces the release of Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0, designed to protect smartphones from all types of IT threats as well as confidential data leaks from lost or stolen devices.
The new version of Kaspersky Mobile Security is unrivalled in terms of cutting-edge technologies, providing an unprecedented level of protection against the wide range of threats facing smartphone users.
For instance, SMS-Find can locate the exact whereabouts of a lost smartphone (for devices with GPS). After sending an SMS with a password to the lost device, the user receives a link to Google Maps containing its exact coordinates.
The Anti-theft module of Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 makes it possible for the owner of a lost or stolen smartphone to remotely block access to or completely wipe the memory of the device by simply sending a codeword via SMS to his/her number.
If the SIM card is removed from a lost or stolen phone, the SIM Watch module in Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 sends a hidden message notifying the owner of the new number. This function ensures the owner can delete data from or block the smartphone no matter what the circumstances. Moreover, law enforcement agencies can use the new number to track down the stolen device and return it to its rightful owner.
Give sensitive and confidential information on your phone an added level of security. Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 provides a safe-folder within the smartphone whose contents are permanently encrypted and only accessible with a user-defined password. When the password is entered the folder will remain accessible to enhance usability until KMS detects a period of inactivity.
The parental control component – new to Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 – enables parents to restrict the sending and receiving of messages to a child’s phone (e.g., premium rate numbers, adult content services, etc.). The solution’s SMS-Find function also allows parents to locate their children if their smartphones have GPS.
Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 also includes an improved Anti-spam module. The spam filter not only blocks unsolicited messages but also calls, protecting users from fraudsters and obtrusive advertising. The new version of Kaspersky Mobile Security can function in whitelist mode (only accepting calls and messages from specified contacts) or in blacklist mode (accepting calls and messages from all numbers except those in the list).
The Antivirus scanner is still best of its kind. As well as automatically scanning all incoming and modified objects, it performs on-demand scans of the device. All malicious objects can be deleted or stored in quarantine. Regular updates of the antivirus databases via various channels, including synchronization with a PC, ensure that new malicious programs are detected and deleted effectively.
The integrated firewall in Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 also prevents attacks by hackers and mobile worms that spread via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.
The new Kaspersky Lab application offering protection for smartphones was developed with all the compatibility requirements for Symbian OS 9.1, 9.2, 9.3 and Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0, 6.1 in mind.

Since you've told me that KMS8 (for WinMo 6.1 Pro) doesn't send the reply to the
SMS-Find request to an email address where does it send it? a reply SMS to the
sending phone?
My tests have all failed to work on a CDMA HTC Touch Pro (Alltel OEM ROM) sending
from various dumb phones (non-feature, non-smart) from various carriers.
Tested Alltel & Verizon with LG AX355, LG AX5000 and LG VX245.
I expected either an email at the preset email address or an SMS reply
with the lat/long coords to the sending phone.
I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia but I do not see it on the download list of compatible phones.
Is there a plan to support the X1?
I have tried KMS8 on the phone but it has caused problems with performance and access to the touch screen phone keypad. I don't know whether this is a compatibility issue with the phone itself or SPB Mobile v3.0.1 which I also run on the phone.
Regards
I am planning either to buy Omnia 2 or HTC Magic, so I want to ask whether both phones are fully supported by kaspersky mobile.
HTC Magic is not supported
Omnia 2 with WM 6.1 is supported
Question about KMS 8 on Win. 6.1 global CDMA+GSM phones: I have an HTC Ozone on the Verizon network. It has several modes: CDMA-only, CDMA-preferred with switch to GSM when roaming, or GSM-only. I'm wondering if the SIM-Watch feature has been tested on these phones. For example, if I installed KMS 8 while CDMA was active, and then roam to a GSM area, would that accidentally trigger SIM-Watch (if enabled)? (It should not.) If somebody changes the SIM card but the phone never leaves the CDMA area, would that trigger SIM-Watch? (It should.) If I travel to a GSM area, and then return to CDMA, would that trigger SIM-Watch? (It should not.) Or if I just switch modes (CDMA-only to GSM-only and vice versa) woult that trigger SIM-Watch? (It should not.)
If the phone is stolen, it will be difficult for somebody to use it on Verizon CDMA as the identity is hardwired. But they could switch it to GSM and put in a new SIM. So even if I've never used the SIM card, I'd like KMS 8 to know it's there and know it's been switched. And I'd like to be reassured that as long as the SIM is never switched, KMS will not become confused by going back and forth from CDMA to GSM. Thanks!
(Also if you could answer whether SMS-Find can send the promised email or not. I wish it could.)
I have a T-Mobile phone. Does Kaspersky mobile security support T-Mobile ?
