Full Version: Running Kaspersky makes me feel like it's worse than being infected

I've been running it for almost a year, and lately I just have the feeling that it's just as bad as having my computer infected. For example, some malware causes tons of popups for crap. Running Kaspersky, almost everytime I want to run something, install something, uninstall something, I get bombarded with dialog after dialog prompting me over and over. Hell, didn't they learn anything from the Vista mess with all the multiple prompts for the same thing? Why the hell do I need to get prompted over and over running an application setup? Why can't it simply allow me to say ONE TIME, I trust this setup and that's it. Never ask me again about it. Other stuff just doesn't work correctly, and usually I have to dig through the settings/logs to figure out Kaspersky it causing the issues. Seriously, AV software is getting to the point that it might as well classify itself as a virus and be done with it.

By fixing it.

I just re-installed my NVidia drivers, and I must have been prompted over 30 times! Each time, if I had the option to make it trusted I selected it, yet it kept prompting me over and over for every little thing the installer did.

Just so you don't think I'm exaggerating, here are MOST of the screenshots I took. There were probably another 10 or so where I just got tired of taking the screenshots. I had to add the rest as links as I exceeded the number of images that can be included.

If you aren't prepared to handle the popups, then keep the program in automatic mode- that is what it is for, however you are running the software in interactive mode be prepared for prompts for unrecognised apps.... the driver installers do not help by spawning unsigned executables or MSI's to do intrusive tasks, hence bringing up such prompts. There is nothing to fix here- tell nvidia to sign ALL of their executables or check the execution path to make sure that you do not have an explorer replacement/etc etc in low restricted that the launched apps are inheriting permissions from.

Regarding NVidia drivers I allways disable KIS when I install them.
I had never any kind of popups from NVidia.
stratoc
its the same with hardware monitor (cpuid) it's in trusted with do not monitor activity unchecked yet every time it starts i get a loading driver warning. ok it's not signed but there are many thousands of users. shame it doesnt remember rules on certain programs.

But that's the sensible way of doing things:-if you're installing anything on your PC,as long as you know what it is ,want it and know its "clean" you should always disable any ant-virus software you're using,if I remember correctly from when I had a nvidia card its even in their installation instructions
This is from nvidia website:-

Driver Installation Hints

•"Download Accelerator" utilities should be disabled when downloading any drivers.

•Do not run virus protection software in the background while installing the drivers. This prevents the driver from configuring itself properly.

Post the popups that you get.

red box, 'an item in the low trusted/ trusted (wherever i put it) zone is trying to load a driver in a suspicious way.
if i check everything in exclusions it doesnt pop up, i just tried it:)
ibok
If you download and run that you get :

After you select add to exclusions if you TRUST the application and you will never see that popup.

P.S. It is the same like the CPUZ
