Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations Version 6.0.3.837 c.d.e.f.h

Windows7 x64 RC downloaded legitimately from TechNet.

Event ID 7000 The Kaspersky Lab Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
This driver has been blocked from loading

File, Proactive Defense, and AntiHacker have all failed to load. The popups complain that the publisher cannot be verified and thus the program is blocked.

Yes, I am well aware that a RC is not a RTM. I hope Kaspersky is aware that the expected RTM is October. Now seems like a good time to start working the kinks out. I know one of my customers is specifically delaying some PC purchases to ensure they arrive with Windows7 rather than Vista, so I at least will be facing any compatibility problems within days of of Windows7 being available.

Any assistance or suggestions are welcome, including ones that are obvious and I ought to have known. As I am not Einstein, I do miss things.

Thanks!

Just found the KAV Beta that supports Windows7 while searching Google. It's installed and seems to be running fine.

I KNEW it was going to be something obvious!

If you see attantively the link you found, you'll know that version what supports Win7 is KAV WKS 8.0.0.1081. It is beta version for beta-OS.

I think, all is clear? wink.gif

I'm running KAV 6.0.3.837 on my beta win7 box. Haven't had any issues w/ it. It seems to be running just fine from what I can tell. /shrug

One off topic post removed......now for the second time. To that poster, the downloadspeed is around 600 to 900kb/sec..............not slow at any rate and no you do not have to answer because the topic of the thread is: Windows7 x64 - Kaspersky Lab Driver Service Failed to Start

To the OP Windows 7 is no supported and the beta of the 8.0 workstation is acutally not an active beta program at the moment. When it will active again i cannot say, but i do guarantee that Windows will be supported at the time of the Windows 7 release...which will be in october. smile.gif

Fine - I'll take up the first item with Kaspersky directly.

As to the second, the link provided by the OP is, iirc, also linked from the MS Win7 Security Provider page.

The page on the Kaspersky site also indicates that it is a Technical Preview compatible with Windows 7.

"Kaspersky Lab releases technical preview of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems, announces the release of a technical prototype of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows 7."

Are we just splitting hairs between a Beta which solicits feedback and a Preview which doesn't, or are you saying that the page is incorrect and that it shouldn't be used on win 7?

As I explained to another AV vendor, I plan to already be on an AV platform which supports Win 7 (best effort beta support is acceptable) at least somewhat in advance of the official Win 7 release.

RobertFranz, there is a beta section for the 8.0 beta and as you can see by going into it ................all the posts are closed and the very first sticky in that forum explains that the programs first beta stage is over and that the next stage will be announced in due course.

As already explained, Kaspersky will certainly support Windows 7 when released in october and before that betawise, but when the beta will be available (second beta stage) we cannot say since this info is not available yet.

It works on Windows 7 Beta, but not Windows 7 RC
Don Pelotas
Thats how it is with beta's...you never know, thats why you test and don't use this for production environments..................basicly if you decide to install on Windows 7 beta/RC.......you're on your own until Windows is released and Kaspersky then supports it.
