Full Version: Is Hard Reset possible on Nokia N95 when KMS 7 is installed?

Hi,

I just installed KMS 7.0.36 on Nokia N95-3. The main reason for me to get the software would be to insure the phone eventually gets back to me given its usefulness to the other party. I was thinking of the following scenario: the phone gets stolen, I send the SMS to block off the phone (or the phone gets blocked when the SIM card gets changed) but despite its blocked status the new user performs a hard reset by presing the well known 3-key-combination working on ALL Nokia phones. Would there be anything to prevent this from happening? If not what is the point of all this, beside giving the "new user" a nice, clean phone?

Thanks,
Naco

The point in having KMS installed is data security.. not handset security..
Data is what is valuable.. especially confidential material... KMS offers you the ability to remove the data in case you loose the phone.

Maybe this is not relevant to you.. but to most people it would be.. those who dont want their personal/profession secrets or confidential information/images to be leaked.
If you want a thief you come back to you and give the phone back.. then thats a very unrealistic expectation.

Not only if stolen, in case you were out at someones place and you left your mobile there.
Although its not stolen, those friends or colleagues may tamper with your data.. so KMS is basically to safeguard your information..

and safety on information.. thats why KMS 8 will have encryption features smile.gif

Hi there!

Recently I was envolved in a situation... http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=130748
Would the encryption protect my files? Is the encryption available in KMS Version 8.0.51?
10x a lot.

Walter.
