Hi All

I had my laptop stolen on Friday night so i went about replacing it with a new unit , calling the laptop the sam network name ( conforming to our company PC name convention ). This i think is where my problem lies.

KAV Administration Kit does not see my new PC in the groups tree, it seems to be looking for my old stolen PC . I pushed the network agent 6.0.1710 from the Admin Kit, after unticking the "do not install if already installed" tickbox as it complained that the program was already intslled , which it was not. I also pushed and installed KAV for Workstations 6.0.3.837, which installed fine ( again after unticking the tickbox ).

I have deleted the PC under the "Groups" in the admin Kit and re-added it with the find option. I tried to do a syncronise from the Admin Kit , but get a "Cannot syncronise host settings now, operations will be completed when the host becomes available on the network".

I ran klnagchk from the NetworkAgent subfolder on my local machine and got the following results :-

Starting utility 'klnagchk'...
Checking command line options...OK
Initializing basic libraries...OK
Current host is MY703\703-L-JASON
Reading the settings...OK
Settings verification...OK
Network Agent settings:

Use proxy server: 0
Open UDP port: 1
Numbers of UDP ports: '15000'
Synchronization period, min.: 15
Connection timeout, sec.: 30
Send/receive timeout, sec.: 180

Attempt to connect to the Administration server...OK
Attempt to connect to the Network Agent...OK
Administration Agent is running
Receiving the Network Agent's statistical data...OK
Network Agent's statistical data:
Total number of synchronization requests: 46
The number of successful synchronization requests: 46
Total number of synchronizations: 2
The number of successful syncrhonizations: 2
Date/time of the last request for synchronization:31/03/2009 5:05:54 PM GMT (31/
03/2009 7:05:54 PM)

Im not sure what to do next as it has been four days , and my virus defenitions are still from 2008 , and will not update with the rest of my users. The Admin Kit says it has not seen the PC for four days too.

Please could someone assist me

Thanks
Jason

Look at "Last connection" field of the computer shortcut properties. If it is "Never" or more than hour ago then you are looking at wrong shortcut and you should perform following steps:

1. right click "Administration Server" > "Find computer"
2. in the "Computer display name field" enter NetBIOS-name (in upper case) of the computer with asterisk (*), so 703-L-JASON*
3. If you find a shortcut with proper last connection value, drag it from find computer window to the administration group you want
