I have the policies applied to the group(s) as I want them to be.
Also the group tasks

NONE of them has any on-demand scan configured, yet the scan runs on my workstations at 5 am
It never finishes as it hangs at 99%, uses 100+ Mb of RAM and makes the workstation/server unusable

I have to kill the avp task in taskmanager & then it is all back to normal

How can I configure the group NOT to run any on-demand tasks (and certainly not in a scheduled way)

It looks that the local scan task is running on the client.

You can disable the local tasks in the policy under settings - advanced.
