i have a samba pdc setup and kaspersky protecting xp workstations. all are up2date.

when accessing/opening a word file (excel as well) over the network, it can take several minutes to display in word.

when i stop kaspersky, the file opens instantaneously. similarly (even with kasperksy running) a file copy from the server to the workstation is incredibly fast (a 40MB file takes just a few seconds to be copied)

can anyone shed light on where to look?

try disabling only the proactive defense, just it. does it work when you do that? if so it's a known error.

yes -- turning it off returns access to "normal" speed ..

can you point me to this issue, i was unable to google it ...
