Hi,
Need you guys advice here.
I have purchased Kaspersky Enterprise Space Security since last year October. Successfully deployed Kaspersky Antivirus since last year November across 400 machines. Over the few month it was working well and no problem at all. Unfortunatly, since last week, the critical problem was happened whereby about 90% of the machines hangs rapidly in my company. It is pretty obvios that when we turned off the Kaspersky protection it was just working fine for the whole day. After whole day of troubleshooting support via the phone from representative Kaspersky engineer, there is nothing suspicious on the application and the computers behavious, there are also no mass broadcast within the network.
Thus, the Kaspersky representative engineer decided came onsite to perform the troubleshooting. Over the 2 days of troubleshooting, we have found out that when we trust the application like LANDesk, Lotus Notes 6.0 & our in-house application - PREMIUM & Hummingbird without perform the realtime scanning,it was working smoothly without hanging at all over 90% of the computer. Unfortunaly we still couldn't find out the reasons why it was happenned? Because all the while these application has been running together with Kaspersky for the last few months but it only happenned recently. In fact there are no changes or upgrade on the applications at all.

Anyone knows what should I do to find out the causes? What are tools can used to workaround to find out this?
My management have been giving the pressure to change the software, but I don't want to do so... sad.gif

Patrick, did you update the latest hotfix release recently?
Try some PC and monitor the results. Hope your problem may solve then.

I believe he meant the Kaspersky patch. 2 weeks ago there was a ptach which required computer reboots...well this patch was bad and caused a number of us huge headaches. The patch to fix it was released on Monday. Now I'm assuming (or atleast hopefull) that you update you Kaspersky atleast once a day.

Although Windows updates are good too.

However, considering someone from Kaspersky came onsite, I would imagine that your Kaspersky is up to date. Is the problem resolved and your just asking why it happened? Or do your computers still lock up and you need help? If you're still having issues, I would get Kaspersky back on the line.

Hi Raymond,
Thanks for your information. Currently, all the computers have been up-to-date. Is that safe to remove back the applications (Lotus Notes, LANDesk & Premium Systems) from the realtime protection trusted zone? Since the patch been fixed at this time.
But the other things I have notice also, currently there are quite a number of PC still freezing when the screen saver set to every 2 minutes. Due to that we have tune the screen saver to 30 minutes then it was working fine. Any idea what was actually happenning? There is another software that we used is from URL: http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html that also be able to fix the screen saver causing the freezing issue. Is the screen saver issues also related to Kaspersky issue?

Thanks & Rgds,

Thanks Raymond for clarifying.

Patrick, yes. the newest hotfix from kav is ver. g that you can know from KAVWS services task if yours already update.
Just my 2 yen opinion, PC or notebook with 512M RAM isnot suitable to run KAV especially during full computer scan or
even during pattern update. Almost all RAM memory used during these process.
But I wonder whether same in your case.
You may try to troubleshoot

1. deactivate screen saver
2. deactivate KAVWS function one by one ( startup scan, critical scan, delay update timing etc)
3. if none above, just try to deactivate KAVWS to monitor

Good Luck.

BTW, you are from KL ?

Hi Selmis,
Thanks your tips.
I've been tried to deactivate the screen saver, then it works just fine without crashed. Even if I set to 30 minutes it still ok. Any ideas why is that so, as previously we have no issue with the screen saver settings, but it pretty obvious after the comput freezing issue then it happenned so.

Anyway, I am from KL, how about you?

Thanks & Regards,
Patrick

Hi,
I have managed to resolve the screensaver problem even I have set the time frequent to 2 minutes it won't hangs anymore. I was using this tools to scan and fix up the problem "advanced systemcare3 l0bit". The question is...doesn't Kaspersky can do that? As advanced systemcare3 IO bit is also scan for adware & spyware.

Thanks & Regards,
Patrick
