Hi!

I have a windows sbs 2003 sp2 domain with 5 clients with win xp pro sp2. KAV admin kit on the server and KAV for workstation on the clients, all updated. One of the client has been reformatted and re-joined the domain with same name (PC003). All network communications are fine between the client and the server, windows firewall is off. I tried to re-deploy KAV agent and antivirus to the reformatted client but they both appeared as already installed. So, i tried to synchronize the client to update information, but admin kit said that it was unable to contact the client (but ping and any other communication is fine!). So, i decided to remove the client from the logical network of kaspersky, and i did it. Then, i tried to re-join the client to the logical network but admin kit gave me the following message (i'm translating from italian to english, so pay attention only to the main meaning):

Impossible to move the following host in the administration group. Possible reasons are:

- computers are non included in the database of the administration server
- the database of the administration server contain several computer with corresponding network attributes

The question is: if the problem is the first one, how can i include the reformatted client in the database? If the problem is the second one, how can i definitely remove any old information about the client from the database? In conclusion, how can i re-deploy KAV to the reformatted client?

Many Many thanks to all for any help!

Enrico.

Before you go any further, you should never rejoin a client to the domain and use the same name when using SBS 2003. It causes issues over time. See Jeff's post regarding this issue here:

Uncheck option 'Don't install if already installed' in the properties of remote installation task and start task again. Network Agent will be installed on the computer. New computer will be placed in the 'Network' node, check it there. I also recommend you to read the following topic:
