Those are letter designations for the hotfixes that have been released by Kaspersky labs. For example 'g' is the latest hotfix released for KAV 6.0.3.837 and contains the fix for the intermittent klif.sys BSOD error. It was released on Tuesday February 17th, 2009. If you have machines that have different hotfixes, then that means some machines are not fully patched which is:

or certain KAV services that are not installed on those machines that only have 'f,g' installed (which would mean hotfixes 'b,c,d,e' are not required since Kaspersky update will only install updates and hotfixes for installed services/features) So I would double check to see if you have features such as anti-hacker, anti-spam, etc. installed and running on those 'f,g' machines and also make sure those machines are setup to download application module updates as part of the update policy and update task under Kaspersky Admin Kit.
