Hey all,

I have started noticing that some of my servers go up to 100% CPU utilization because of the KAVFSWP process. This is the update process correct? Is there anyway to limit this from spiking to 100%? When it spikes like this, my users can not log in to the servers that are being affected. So far, I have only noticed it on a virtual machine and on Servers running Windows 2000.

Thanks.

I have noticed similar results, on W2003 Server, used for webserving.
The kavfswp seems to hover around 30-80 percent CPU
constantly. Whenever I access my apache / php / mysql webpages it goes up immediately, and
I have to kill the kavfswp process to get less than 5 seconds per page up.
Have tried repairing the KAV in the add-remove progs. It hasn't fixed it.
My email server KAV is OK, just the Fileserver version that does the CPU thing.
Furthermore, this filesserver version doesn't let me use any management controls at all,
there is no functioning interface to administer it.
Anybody out there know anything?

what's the settings of your scanning? It might affect the performance of your servers.
ex. maybe your configuration is set to scan all activities /files that is running.

appropriate settings on scanning
*scan all files
productivity
*scan only new and changed files
compound files
*scan archives
*scan embedded OLE objects

Sounds like your server is scanning whole networks.
Disable "All Network Drives" undet tasks > File Anti-Virus > Properties > Properties > security level
Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies.

First, I have been going back and forth with Tech support for a while on this. We have tried both CF7 and CF8. This is happening on Server 2003 x86 and x64 servers as well.

I have attached the screen shots from one of my scan tasks. My scans are performed once a week on Sunday.

I have tried that on a couple of systems and have not had an issue. However, I tried to update this process on an x64 system and it crashed the AV. I had to reinstall it. Basically the processes would not start anymore and it would not communicate with the Admin Kit. Is there an extra step that has to be done on 64 bit systems? I will try this again when I have the opportunity.

Last week Kaspersky did a update to the virus db because the KAV FSEE client used 100% CPU on a update cycle.
The problem was caused by a wrong update link inside the db. For KAV FSEE this solved the problem. b_punk.gif

If you have a problem with kavfswp.exe crashing, you should contact KL for CF8 (still beta).....
