I want to upgrade from V7 tp 2009 KAV in a network where generally Port 80 (HTTP) is blocked.

V7 after install tried a few HTTP sites which failed but then went on to use FTP happily.

Someone has warned me that 2009 may not support FTP downloads of updates. I hope this is wrong. Can anyone confirm that 2009 will work with only FTP access available.

Thanks

Hello ,

Kaspersky Lab has about 15 FTP Servers worldwide and all PCs takes an Update from these Servers , why you think that there is a problem with FTP Sites ?

I agree - I was just quoting someone else who seems to think that while V7 will automatically find an FTP server where http does not work, 2009 did not do that. I wanted to check before upgrading. It is the automatic updating that I am concerned about rather than the ability to find an FTP server manually.

I was watching the initial updates after installation and the initial download attempts were all using http rather than FTP.

If no one can confirm this as a problem I will get on with the upgrade.
