Full Version: KAV 6 not catching Antivirus 2009

Hi, I've got KAV-6 for Workstations and Servers running with update-to-date signatures. AdminKit updates every 2-hours to keep all the machines protected. However, Antivirus2009 is still sneaking onto some of the workstations.

Is there a manual update package we can install to protect against Antivirus2009? Or some settings that can be pushed out via the AdminKit?

Thanks -danno

I reported this a while back and I even created a suggestion here...

Apparently, by default, KAV will not detect this unless the "potentionally dangerous software (riskware)" box is checked. However, checking this could cause other issues. I stronly disagree with Kaspersky's stand on this malware and its varients. I had a machine get infected with a similar malware "security hoax". I checked the "potentionally dangerous software (riskware)" box and ran a scan. KAV detected a few of the files however it wasn't able to clean it completely. Upon reboot, it re-infested itself. I had to run another manufacturer's product to clean it. KAV really needs to do something about these.

The best tool for removing AntiVirus 2009 is Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. It's free. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

It's not free for business use. I would assume the original poster is refering to a business environment.
