Dear All,

Two days ago I upgraded to KAV KIS 8.0. I have had KAV for more than six years with no problems.

I keep getting a pop-up Window 2009 Warning, very insistent every two or three minutes from: *I've separated the letters and numbers and added spaces in the link.

http :// main - scanner . com / 2009 / 9/ _freescan . php ? aid = 7 7 0 5 2 1 0 4

I have also been getting pop-ups from poker game sites and medieval game sites. I have never visited either one.

I have no idea how to fix these problems. I rely very heavily on top notch protection since I am clearly not good at doing this and that upload and attaching this and that as described in other posts. I have run the quick scan several times and the full scan twice in two days.

A trojan was detected and taken care of. There is also a problem with some Office files, but it it should have been disinfected. I am careful and thorough and never visit porn or game sites, although, since I am a translator, I do visit a number of 'interesting' sites for research.

I have submitted a Tech. Support Request. However, I cannot figure out how to upload the information you need to help me. If I get idiot proof information of how to: What files do you need me to upload, etc., I can follow it ... but otherwise, I am really out to lunch. As well, I am late-deaf, and I need the computer in order to work and communicate.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Kind regards,

Nanna

Please create a GSI log of your computer. Instructions shown here.
Upload the log to a file hosting website such as http://rapidshare.de/. Once it is uploaded, the web-page will give a download link. Insert the download link to your next post.

The Office files which were detected are probably vulnerabilities. You're simply recommended to update them to the latest versions. How did you disinfect them? What file was detected?

Thank you, Dawgg. The first part of your instructions seem straightforward enough. I'll give it a whirl. I have copied, pasted and printed all the information.

As for the second part: yes, you are right. I am told that vulnerabilities are detected. Some of them low risk, some of them high risk: very dangerous.

As for how I "disinfected" them .... I asked KAV/KIS to take care of things automatically. They have been blocked, the statistics page tells me.

There are several files: about 51 files, many of them Office files but a lot of from my Old Hard Drive files (I often retrieve WORD files that I need for translation).

So, are you suggesting that I simply uninstall and then reinstalll Office?

1. If I do that, will I lose my client's WORD files?

2. How will un- and re-installing affect the Old Hard Drive files, if at all?

Thank you,

Nanna

Just upgrade office... do as per instructed when you right-click the detection and click "description"... it should take you to a www.viruslist.com... page. It will instruct you the process of how you upgrade. Sometimes installing a patch will do the job.
The older docs should still be intact. You should be able to view the docs if they are .doc or .txt or many other formats. What format are they?
