will we be able to test avptool with the new engine soon?

No, I don't think there will be a AVPtool for v2009... It will remain AVPtool based on v7 (the old engine). It will still have Kaspersky's renowned high signature detection rates.. and heuristic detections.
... There is little to gain from implementing the new engine relative to the costs (time and effort). All the user will get is faster scanning speed and stronger heuristics, packer detection (suspicious and multi-packer)... But remember, Kaspersky's signatures are far more important and effective than any of these other factors and with AVPtool, you already get that.
