Is KAV 7 compatible with ZoneAlarm Pro 7.1? Any conflicts when running both of these on WinXP? Thanks.

I tried it once on a fresh install on window xp pro sp2 and it was alright. Just install KAV first than ZoneAlarm. Either way i don't believe it would matter, but that what i did. Anyways i hope it helps.

if the rumors were correct this is the version which should remove the kaspersky components. unfortunatly the only way to know for sure is to give it a try.

ZoneAlarm Firewall Free is not compatible with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. Detection of this application will be added in Maintenance Pack 1 for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0.

So is KAV 7 MP1 now compatible with ZoneAlarm Pro 7.1?

I see,
so if you dont want to risk something i would trust Lucian and dont run it together.
Theres no 100% working guarantee for other vendors working together with KAV
Only KIS gives you that... rolleyes.gif

I'm currently running KAV 6 with ZA Pro 7 and works fine together. I'm deciding whether or not I can upgrade to KAV 7...

Excerpts from ZoneAlarm Release Histories:

ZoneAlarm version 7.0.470.000
* Compatibility improvements:
Free ZoneAlarm firewall and ZoneAlarm Pro can now co-exist with Kaspersky AV
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/free/inf...tml#7.0.470.000

ZoneAlarm Pro version 7.0.470.000
* Compatibility improvements:
Free ZoneAlarm firewall and ZoneAlarm Pro can now co-exist with Kaspersky AV
http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/info...tml#7.0.470.000

Have Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 MP1 (build 7.0.1.325) [and prior to that KAV Version 6.0.2.621] and ZoneAlarm Pro version 7.0.470.000 installed on a WXPPro SP2 platform and can confirm they peacefully co-exist. IMHO they are two Flagship products and make an excellent team.

Of course you have to have other type of products to complete protection and in order to achieve (partially redundant protection and) Defense in Depth.

(KAV has to be installed first. ZAP must be uninstalled before KAV installs.)

is that truly necessary? if so, does that mean everytime we update versions of KAV 7, we have to uninstall/reinstall both programs? seems like much of a hassle!

At the moment yes, because ZA is on the incompatibility list (this may change with this development) but when installing KAV, the installer checks if certain incompatible apps are installed, and will advise you to remove them before installing.... which is why you have to install KAV first at the moment, but like I said, this could change with the latest ZA release, we will have to wait and see what KL say.
