Today my system popped a message stating that the AV files on my system were out of date. Checking the logs, it stated "File does not exist on update source". The files have not been updated since 4/22. I saw one other post on this topic (the other poster hadn't updated since the exact same date) and it suggested shutting down self defense, exiting Kaspersky and deleting an xml file. I tried this and came up with the same result after restarting everything.
I am running Kaspersky 6.02.614 on Windows Vista with all of the latest Microsoft updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. NG |

You can try updating to the latest version which is the suggested answer. Uninstall your build and install the latest. Might be worth running the removaltool in safe mode too.
Or if you cannot run the latest properly, you can delete everything in the bases folder, and redownload the whole database package again. You will need to have self-defense off to do this. Download will be a fair sized package to 10-12 megs. -------------------- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke

Do I just download the latest version from Kaspersky's sight and then use my old key? Thanks again, NG |

I am still getting a message that says "File does not exist on update source". I am starting to think it is a firewall issue. Unfortunately, I don't know what settings I would need to check. My PC is a client on a Microsoft SBS 2003 server which runs ISA. I have set up the proxy info and it seems to be connecting to Kaspersky, but it always gives me the mentioned error. Does anyone have any experience with using Kaspersky AV with SBS 2003 and ISA? Thanks, NG |

Try to disable the self-defense in: Settings > Service and exit kaspersky
delete this file: updcfg.xml from: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab\AVP6\Data\ Then reboot and reenable the self defense & update. -------------------- |

I already tried that based on the information I saw in another post. It just recreated the file and I received the same message. |

I even disabled KAV, uninstalled it, restarted the computer, erased the directories and re-installed. I still got the same response that the file does not exist on the update source. It is really strange. I have been running KAV on this computer since February with no problem. The only other guess I have is ISA, but it seems to be connecting to the server without any problems, so I don't think that is it. I may have to try another product if this keeps up. NG |

QUOTE(Whizard @ 26.04.2007 20:37) Just an update on my issue. I opened a support ticket, but was able to resolve the issue prior to their response. I suspected that it was my firewall since I had just recently installed it, and it was. Even though I had input the correct proxy address and login info, I had entered port 80 which is correct for http: downloads. By default Kaspersky attempts to download the files via ftp which is a different port number. After changing the port, everything is updating without any problems. For reference, my computer is a client behind a Microsoft ISA firewall. This was not an issue with a firewall application local to my computer. Thanks for all of the help. QUOTE(norwegian @ 28.04.2007 02:03) Actually, that check box is what triggered the thought that I was using the wrong port. It was able to get out to the net using port 80 to connect to the site, but ftp was being blocked, so it couldn't get the file. I am glad that I resolved this issue because I really didn't want to switch AV packages. NG |
