Hi,

with my Samsung Ativ XE500T1C with an Atom Z2760 and Windows 8.1 32 bit I observe the following:

Some Windows 8.1 apps like Mail or msecure start very slow. IE Mordern view starts fast. After start all is running very fast. All Desktop apps
like Office 2013 start fast without problems.

Are there any hints to get it faster or is this a bug?

Bett regards
Thomas

Welcome. Please create gsi sysinfo text and post link to GSI Report which will provide a wee tiny smidgeon of information about your Kaspersky product
and which also may identify issue area, instructions, see the sixth Important topic.

Please see the small print that is located at the bottom of this message.

Hi,

I had a look to the analysis, g-data is not installed, I have used av-cleaner from g-data to remove it and it just does not remove it from the list of installed programs.

That may possibly be a registry entry.

I don't see any obvious conflicts, but some things may be slow with an Atom processor. Maybe Tech Support can investigate further: https://my.kaspersky.com/en/support/helpdesk

Hi,

ok the Atom may be slow. But I don't understand why the Outlook 2013 start is fast and the Modern UI Mail app not. If it is a problem of the Atom
both starts should be slow.

Best regards
Thomas

Why do you think Kaspersky causes the issue?

Please, Exit Kaspersky and see whether the problem persists. To do that simply right-click on the Red & Black Kaspersky icon in System Tray (on the bottom right corner of your screen) and select “Exit”.

Hi,

I am sure because if I exit Kaspersky the problem is gone and the problem occurs after the installation of Kaspersky and I have changed nothing else on the system.

1) Please, pause Kaspersky protection and check whether the problem persists. To do that simply right-click the Red & Black Kaspersky icon in System Tray (on the bottom right corner of your screen) and select “Pause Protection”.

2) Please, try do diagnose which Kaspersky Protection component causes the problem:

* Pause Kaspersky Protection. Right-click the Red & Black Kaspersky icon in System Tray and select “Pause Protection”.
* Open the main Kaspersky window and go to “Settings” – here you will find the list of protection components in order. Switch the first component (File Anti-Virus) on by clicking the switch to the right.
* Check whether the problem persists.
* If it doesn’t, turn the second component on (Mail Anti-Virus), but leave the first one enabledl.
* Keep turning components on one by one until the problem until the problem kicks in.

Please specify which component caused the problem.

Hi,

I have tried to figure it out. The result is that only a complete exit of kaspersky helps, with only pausing or switching off components the problem persists.

In the advertising for KIS 2014 there was something about a special security api for modern ui apps, there may be the problem. Further I have found the following:

After the app is in memory the problem is gone. If you close it without ending the process, just with dragging the finger form the top to the bottom, the problem is gone.
If you close it with ending the process, just with dragging the finger form the top to the bottom and wait at the bootom until the thumbnail flips, the problem is back.

This means, the problem occurs with the first loading of the app into the memory and only for modern ui apps not for normal desktop programs (and Outlook 2013 is heavy, but it starts fast and without problems, modern mail apps starts slow, msecure starts very slow, people app starts very slow).

Best regards
Thomas

Hi,

I am still waiting for a response from support. Is this the normal time to wait?

Hi,

for me it seems to be a bug, because desktop apps are not impacted. Before Kaspersky I had had Norton Internet Security, G-data and Bitdefender installed. With this programs the launch of the metro apps is no problem, but after the successfull launch of the app with Kaspersky the system is faster.

Because on a Core 2 Duo P8400 with Windows 8.1 I don't observe the problem it seems only to occur with slower processors like Clover Trail and Bay Trail. But because with
heavy desktop apps there is no problem there should be a possible fix for this problem. I assume that all Tablets with Clover Trail or Bay Trail have this problem.

Until now I don't receive an answer for my support question regarding this topic.

Best regards
Thomas
