Hello, new Forum member here.

Without my permission, the program DomaIQ by Tuguu SLU seems to have rudely installed itself on my Acer Aspire 8943G laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) yesterday, Monday 15 April.

I can't uninstall it via Control Panel.

I'd like to know please:

1. How I can uninstall the program and,

2. What DomaIQ is and does.

I've just completed a "Full Scan" and thankfully, I got the following message:
"Completed: Scanned: 1,363,146 Threats: none"

Before that, I also carried out a "Vulnerability Scan" that gave "Vulnerabilites: 39" (none seemed related to DomaIQ)" and, a "Critical Areas Scan" that gave "Threats: none".

Thank you, SwissBank

BTW as a new Forum member.
Please let me know if you think my first port of call shoud have been the Kaspersky Lab Help/Support set-up?

This is an adware toolbar. I actually had it on my pc last week.

Please read the instructions on the removal process: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=84003

edit: remove and replace outside disinfection link.

In addition to what huskyman67 indicates in the post above,

Settings > Advanced settings (cardboard box icon) > Threats and exclusions > Detection types > Settings > enable Other > ok>ok, and do a scan.
After that, please uninstall any and all junk toolbars > reboot, and uninstall/disable any and all junk browser add-ons and extensions, then remove any and all junk
search providers in your browsers, then if need be, change your home page.

If still no go, please see: Kaspersky Lab Forum > English User Forum > Virus-related issues > the first Important topic. There, you will find instructions for logs.

Please see the small print that is located at the bottom of this message.

Phew! Thanks for that.
And thanks also for responding so quickly.

So its not a nasty virus then?

Being an adware toolbar makes sense.

I'm ashamed to admit that on the spur of the moment on Monday I tried to watch some live motorsport on "VIPBox" ?
It did not work very well for me.
I seem to be bombarded with "do you want to download" offers.
I should have realised what was happening and cleared off out of that site.
I still can't believe I tried it.

In all, I think 6 new programs suddenly appeared on my computer!
I deleted 5 immediately but could not get rid of DomanIQ (using standard MS tools within Control Panel - Programs & Features.

I'm just off to read the link you kindly sent me in the meantime.

I've looked at that link.
Does it mean that I have to go through the two steps it describes?
I think I may be getting beyond my depth here.
But I'm willing to give it a go.

Thanks for this advice.
I will try it out.
But first, I am using Windows 7.
Where do I find "Settings" on that?
Also, "After that, please uninstall any and all junk toolbars..."
How do I do that please?

You're welcome. 1. Those are Kaspersky settings. Main Kaspersky window > Settings > Advanced settings (cardboard box icon) > Threats and exclusions > Detection types > Settings > enable Other > ok>ok, and do a scan.

2. Windows Control Panel Programs > uninstall a program.

After that, please uninstall any and all junk toolbars > reboot, and uninstall/disable any and all junk browser add-ons and extensions, then remove any and all junk
search providers in your browsers, then if need be, change your home page.

Oh sorry!
Kaspersky settings.
I should have realised that .... unsure.gif

Ok, I'll have a go at what you have said.
I'll let you know how I get on, if I may.

My Acer is running like lightning at the moment.
I hope I have not spoken too soon.
But DomaIQ does not seem to be having any adverse effect on it ..... ..............

BTW just out of interest.
Do you know why DomaIQ is made to be "uninstallable"?

Just to let you know I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to do here .... ....?

I'm talking about "Please read the instructions on the removal process: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=84003
"

First of all, how do I use "Browse" to find the DomaIQ file I want removed?
If I press "Submit" without a file name, it says of course, Error - cannot find file.

Second, am I really supposed to post the inner workings of my system to unknown people on the Internet.
Is that right?
What am I doing wrong.
All I want is to remove DomaIQ.

But at least I've done:
"You're welcome.

Nothing detected (that look related to DomaIQ) in the scan.
I still can't Uninstall that program via Control Panel.

Thanks, SwissBank
