DNSChanger Malware, Does Kaspersky have any insight into this published threat? Options

I have seen warnings about a malware threat called DNSChanger that is supposedly to be unleashed 9 July and we are urged to follow a link to a sight which will search your computer for infection as posted on the MSNBC site. Does anyone know if this is a valid threat and or a real removal service? Is Kaspersky Labs aware of the threat and, if so, doing anything about the detection and removal prior to the activation date in July? Help please!

It's most certainly a real issue like many others, you should check or perhaps like many simply try one of the many free DNS services which would make you less nervous regarding this....services like OpenDNS, Google also has one.

Kaspersky adds several layers of defense, but this is a cat and mouse game and you can be certain they will have several new versions ready by then on "launch day", that would then have to be added to the signatures or via the cloud part of 2012, so i would simply use a different DNS like one of those mentioned above.
