Here's my question, I installed Kaspersky 2010 and it has been working like a charm. Then I decided to upgrade to Kaspersky 2011 (latest version) and ever since that time, all my USB ports have been disabled. These are the error messages I see when I launch Control Panel --> System --> Hardware --> Devices:
Ever since installing Kaspersky, all of my USB ports have been giving me error reports. None of them work and I can't hook any devices up to my computer, not even thumb drives. I can't even print. I looked under "Control Panel", then clicked on "System", then "Hardware", then "Device Manager" and this is what I see: ! Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport 2 ! Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport 4 ! NVIDIA nForce Network Controller ! NVIDIA nForce Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Miniport ! WAN miniport (IP) Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Then under USB, I see this: Universal Serial Bus Controllers: ! NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Controller (BI) ! NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller ! NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller ! Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller ! Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller All of these devices have an "Exclamation Mark" in front of them and indeed none of my USB ports work. What can be done to get my USB ports working again. Neither of them work including the two that are located in the front of my computer. Thank you for your support… Tom DeMicke |

1. Click here to download the GetSystemInfo tool
2. Run getsysteminfo.exe, click run and next create report. 3. The log will be autouploaded and added to the clipboard with the default settings. 4. Now add the link from the clipboard to your post, use insert link and rightclick to add the link now in the clipboard. -------------------- |

I removed McAfee Visual Trace, ran the McAfee removal tool (nothing found), removed temp files removed KIS. Rebooted. USBs still not functioning. Reinstalled KIS 11.0.0.232 (where do you get KIS 11.0.1.400? - I can only see 11.0.0.232 available). Updated and rebooted. Still no USBs. Removed KIS again. In desperation ran Kaspersky Removal tool and asked it to remove all known products. USBs CAME BACK!. Reinstalled and updated KIS 11.0.0.232 and rebooted. So far all is fine. |

BTW, KIS 400 can be downloaded from here: http://www.kaspersky.com/kis_latest_versions. If everything is OK you can wait for CF2, I think beta testing for CF2 should begin sometimes in autumn... |
