Hi,

I am new to Kaspersky and hoping to get rid of Symantec asap. I have many different versions of Symantec and am not going to go the route of auto uninstalling since it would be to cumbersome. I am going to send a document to users explaining how to uninstall Symantec and also how to install KAV. I'd like to be able to setup KAV so that I include a link in the email to a network share, the user can open that link and run setup.exe.

I created a standalone install package for this purpose and have it shared. When I run that package I get through Extracting archive to temporary folder, Installation: Network Agent, then it fails on the next step Checking administration server connnection - klnagchk utility complete with an error. See tracing file %temp%\klnagchk.log for details.

That log has an error reading the settings...Error - 1187 ('bad parameter address')

Do the machines have a connection to the Administration Kit during install?
If you create an installation package with Network Agent included, the agent tries to establish a connection to Administration Kit on installation. If there is no connection, the installation quits with error.

I am not sure if they have a connection to the admin kit during install, how do I determine that? Do I need to add them as a managed computer first? I am hoping that is not the case.

No, you do not have to add them as managed computer first. Please check, if Administration Kit server is 'pingable' from that client and if ports 13000 and 14000 are reachable (telnet, port-checker,...).

Yes, the admin kit server is reachable. I can install KAV on to this same machine using the kav kit but my deployment scenario calls for having end users kick off the install themselves from a share.

Please provide installationlogs of network agent and workstation after installation quit with error:

canagent.log
kl-install-*.log
$klssinstlib.log
kl-install-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss.log
kl-setup-yyyy-mm-dd-hh-mm-ss.log

You should find them (at least a couple of them) in the %temp% directory.

I called in to support and they found out that the server was not specified, I can't recall where that was entered now but thats what fixed it.

Which version you are trying to reinstall? The same as old one?

OS? Account?
