Gr-r-r-r!
I've got a lot of data in AVP8\data, not dumps, but regualar data. In trying to speed up my computer, I have been defragging it periodically, but when it gets to AVP8\Data, Kaspersky denies the defrag program from touching it and that stops the defrag completely. I've entered as trusted the executable modules C:\WINDOWS\system32\defrag.exe and C:\WINDOWS\system32\DFRGNTFS.EXE and it hasn't helped. Its true that I download and test programs frequently, trying to find some software that fits what I want to do, so maybe that's why this Data file is so big. I also clean my registry every so often. The "C" drive needs to be defragged and my system is running slower... and slower... and slower... . This is driving me crazy!!!!! Spending hours trying to figure out this problem is not my idea of fun! Someone please help! |

I found a defrag.exe in the sys32\dll folder, and added it as a trusted application, and that didn't help. Then I tried to zip a large file and delete it, and Kaspersky still wouldn't let me do that! I've turned the self-protection off, restarted the system and NOTHING HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I clicked on the link you sent in your message and got the following error: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Sorry, but we did not find any matches to display. Try again and broaden your search criteria. If you were searching for new posts since your last visit, it's possible that there are none to show. I was still logged in when I saw this message. I am new to your online help system, so I don't know what I could have done wrong. But it is very time-consuming to have access to so many websites, all of which require looking around for answers to questions in different places. Sorry, but I am pressed for time 24/7. I will tell you that, to alleviate my problem, I closed my internet connection, deleted Karensky and readded it. Luckily I kept the installation module and had downloaded all the information I needed to reinstall it again. Then I got online again and updated the anti-virus data. My computer is running much faster now -- for the moment. I defragged my "C" drive before my reinstall. After the reinstall, Karensky was a good deal smaller than before. I don't think this is a very good solution since my computer is vulnerable during the anti-virus update. Though I have downloaded a lot of software, I always uninstall any that I decide is not useful, and I have updated Karensky periodically to delete references to software that I have uninstalled. I've looked around the screens on my computer and don't think I am missing any other data which I could delete from it using the installed systems. |

Add the defragmenter processes (defrag.exe) in c:\windows\system32 to the Trusted applications list in Settings > Threats and exclusions > Trusted zone >
Trusted applications with "Do not monitor application activity" and "do not scan opened files" checked. Also add these two: dfrgntfs.exe for NTFS drives and dfrgfat.exe for FAT. (You should only have to add the second one, but add the first one, too.) If still no go, disable Self defense, located in Settings > Options, then defrag. Please don't forget to re enable Self defense when done defraging. -------------------- Please see the Important topics, located at the top of this section, and at the top of other sections of this forum.

or use My Defrag in windows safe mode by pressing F8 during the system boot. It will safely defrag all the kaspersky files and any others that are usually locked out during normal windows operation.

You could try the free Defraggler program from Piriform, after a normal defrag using this program it gives you the option to defrag all KIS data and more.
I've used it for ages and it hasn't failed me yet....give it a try you might be surprised how good this program really is (and best of all it's free and regularly updated). Just Google Piriform Defraggler, have a read and then make up your own mind. |

Raxco's PerfectDisk also works without any issue with KAV 2010 on WinXP SP3, Vista SP2 and Win7.
