For us the fix seems to be working at 6 sites - however we have put on hold upgrading another 50+ sites until this is resolved. It would be better if a permanent fix was delivered (and i would hope promptly by Kaspersky).

Too many unknowns & erratic behaviour with MP4. We have even found random behaviour with Vista (SP1) clients however when upgrading the workstation to SP2 it seems to stabalise the behavior. Yet it all worked fine in MP3. The other stange aspect is that whilst performance of workstations are severely effected CPU & memory usuage seems to be fine...it all seems to be I/O.

Strange Stuff!

Please try to deactivate iChecker and iSwift in the settings of File Anti-Virus and Virus scan task and reboot the machine. Is I/O performance ok after changing the settings?

hi, I've just read the whole topic and I've same issue on my lan (250 pc's). It' s a randomic issue, not all the client (xp 32bit sp2 and sp3) are affected by the slow down.
My actual workaround was to repackage Mp4 WITOHUT the Access Control module, disinstalled mp4, reinstalled mp4.
All seems to go well.

Notice:
I've never user the Access Control, it was disable by policy. Btw, only the reinstallation without the Access Control module resolved the issue. Imho, disabling ndis filter is a "last chance" choice, because you lose a lot of security. It preferable to switch back to MP3.

My answer corresponded to the problem of adamrippon.

Did you already followed the steps mentioned here: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showt...t&p=1160868 ?

i have taken off the iSwift in the settings of File Anti-Virus and Virus scan task and does not appear to have made much off a differance. We have removed KAV off a workstation and things go back to normal!

What exactly did you do? Am interested to know as am trying to establish what function is causing which problem (due to the amount of them). The main reason is i want to minimise what i am disabling otherwise i may as well use some other basic AV without the overhead. The main reason we originally moved our clients to Kaspersky was to up the security & reduce the threat options. Just need to get the performance & stability back now.

I plan on trying what phr3n1c suggested ( deactivate iChecker and iSwift ) & testing again.

First i tried pushing again with "install even if app is installed" and without the NDIS Driver.
This gave some speed; for example if you open files. printing was a bit faster (it didn´t take 1 Minute to open the printing dialoge, but 10 - 20 seconds).
After one week it was slow again.
Than i tried it with deaktivated proactive protection. same again. bit faster, but not for long. and not as fast as without kasper.
than i tried it without all components, expect from the file protection (only at locations where i have utm firewalls). this was much faster.
than i tried it with the solution showen in the pdf. this works perfactly till today on all locaton. printing dialog is instant; folder browsing ist instant; opening office documents is instant. the slowest was printing pdfs. even this is realy fast again now...
i tried the pdf solution with the NDIS driver too. this didnt work...

iswift and ichecker is activated so far...
if it goes slow after one week, i will deaktivate ichecker and iswift...

Thanks to Jeremiah @ Kaspersky Support, we have a resolution to the performance issues seen with the MP4 release. Follow the steps outlined in the PDF I uploaded to Scribd. ** You also have to disable Self Defense for 8 hours - you can push this change through the Workstation Policy **

http://www.scribd.com/doc/22417910

Resolves the Following Issues
System Slowdowns
Print Slowdowns
Office Document and PDF Slowdowns
Slow Network Access
Hanging IE and Office Apps
Decreased Internet upload speed

FYI - My client had 10 PCs affected by performance issues, and this resolved the problem

Thank you for that information, I tried it in 4 sites and the headache was gone for me and my costomers.

Very true, solved my performance problems.

Read through this topic and you'll notice it solves many peoples performance issues. Kaspersky development seems to be aware of the issues with Self Defence in MP4. Hope they fix it soon, cause I'd rather be running WITH self defence...

For us the main problem was that when opening internet explorer it would just hang at a blank page for about 10-30 seconds. Excluding this process seemed to resolve the issue for us. *SSV.dll (This is a java process)

Also, if you call Kaspersky they have a good document on fixing performance emails that they can send to you.

Regards,
Wes
