Hi,

I'm another of those unfortunates who can't get GSI 4.0 to run on my system. I can click on generating a report but the progress screen remains blank.

I have looked at other threads and I do have the WMI running on my Legitimate Windows XP SP3 machine. I have also tried it in safe mode and no go there also.

As others have reported the %TEMP% file is only:

GetSystemInfo version 4.0.0.236:

<Time>
Time : 26/10/2009 20:40:02
</Time>

I have an ASUS MB and 2gb of ram with an Intel core 2 duo.

Exiting KIS 2010 doesn't help.

I have a previous version of GSI (3.0.0.5) which works fine (about a year old)!

Cheers

Did You change any of the Settings before running it?. Try to disable in Drivers/Ports -> Scan Ports, and run again.

Regards.

Hello,

A user already faced the same problem: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=129427

It's probably WMI Services which is not started.

Didn't change any settings to begin with.

Thanks for working with me. Disabled scan ports. Still no joy I'm afraid. If I click on stop report the program exits.

I think 'thanks for working with me' was a bit premature ;-(

Is there anything else you can reccomend that I try. I have tried unticking every option box, but it still hangs.

Hello Meteosat,

I definitely think that something is wrong with WMI.

Try to get WMI Explorer 1.06 from here: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/downpage.htm
Run the tool and go to the tab "Query". Then, in the query section, replace the "Select ..." by, let's say, "select * from Win32_ComputerSystem" and press "Execute".

One line should appear at least here.

Is this working ?

I get an error message 'class not registered' Both on initial run of prog and executing the query tab.

(Thanks for the follow up)

SOLVED!! Thank you - although the service was seen to be running, I followed up the 'class not registered' message and found ways to repair the WMI. After a re-boot the tool is working and now so also is GSI 4.0

Many thanks

(Now all I have to do is to find out why calling up My Computer takes 30 seconds for the waving torch to cease!)

I hope you'll be able to fix your main issue too.

See you.
