Hello
Can KIS 7 licenses no longer be extended? Later versions of KIS do not work when running on a VirtualBox virtual machine because of a VirtualBox bug. My KIS 7 license is soon to run out so I bought a two year extension only to find it cannot be used on KIS 7. Error message: "This key is not for this application". I wrote to support@kaspersky.com explaining why I need KIS 7 and asking for an activation key. They replied "About the key problem, each area have itself solution, therefore you'd better contact the local agent/sales or local technical support for help". So I wrote to kaspersky.ie.cs@digitalriver.com What to do? Best Charles -------------------- Best

they meants you need to contact support in India:http://www.kaspersky.com/in/contacts. You have a problem though, 7.0 will be discontinued in jan 2010....the 11th to be exact.
Allthough ignatures will still be delivered for the foreseeable future.................it (7.0) is fast becoming less and less effective in todays fast moving malware environment. -------------------- |

Thanks Don Will try http://www.kaspersky.com/in/contacts. support@kaspersky.com said to go to http://www.kaspersky.com/customer_care_cente where it says "for orders placed on or after June 18, 2009, Kaspersky Lab eStore is supported by our trusted e-commerce partner - Digital River." which is how I got the kaspersky.ie.cs@digitalriver.com address. They just replied saying that can't find my order, despite my quoting the order number. Uh oh! I'd like to move to KIS 2010 for the reasons you give but I'm between a rock and a hard place with that VirtualBox bug; it's more than a year old now and it's beginning to look as if I might have to change virtualisation software or Internet Security Suite and I'm happy with both so don't want to do that. Hello
Here's an update. The good news is that Kaspersky did issue an activation code for two more years of Kaspersky Internet Security 7. <rant>The bad news is a) I still haven't had a response from Digital River, despite sending them a .pdf of the paid invoice and b) the two non-technical email addresses given on http://www.kaspersky.com/in/contacts were rejected by Kasperksy's mail server (mx3.kaspersky-labs.com) with error message "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in relay recipient table". </rant>. It was a mail to to info@kaspersky.com that produced the activation code along with an explanation that the reason the "customer care center was unable to help you is that you purchased the license through our Indian estore". Hello Whizard
Thanks for your reply. Did you purchase via an official eStore? Yes, as best I know. My purchase log does not include the URL used (duh!) and Firefox is set to clear history on closing but, as best I remember, I went to http://www.kaspersky.com/, clicked eStore button, clicked Asia on the map and selected India from the drop down which now opens http://www.kaspersky.com/in/store?blocknum2=0.The seller was Digital River element 5, same as previous KIS purchases, and there was nothing in the transaction or subsequent communications to suggest anything other than a proper and routine procedure. I sent the .pdf of the paid invoice to info@kaspersky.com when asking for a KIS 7 activation key to go with the new license; at the least, they probably copied some essenntial data from it. Edit: removed sig in message text. This post has been edited by catkin: 7.08.2009 15:59 -------------------- Best
