Hi,
We installed KAV server 6 on a windows server 2000 machine, all worled fine. (Theres a chance we actually didnt reboot the server after we installed the AV client on this server) Few days later when i logged onto this server, i fired up KAV and saw it needed a reboot, also, i couldn t do anything with the KAV window, it totally freezed, no interaction was possible with the KAV window. so i rebooted the server. The server blocked on a light bluescreen (windows background color) just before the login, we couldn t do anything but apply a backup we had Does anyone experienced such problem before? We'r really puzzled and have no idea what went wrong. Is it possible that, because we didn't reboot after the client's installation that, somhow it got corrupted after an update or something similar? Any help would be welcome, now we'r affraid to install KAV server on this machine |

Are you on the server locally or remote?
Uncheck the checkbox for update program modules. This was the reason for reboot after an update. |

Has the server Service Pack 4 and Update Rollup Package installed?

In this case you must uncheck self defense.
Did you install Kaspersky over this way. Then it was the question which user are loged on. |

In our case, the server always looked like it was going to boot up, just never actually displayed the login box. (The server booted up fine in safe mode) We traced it to an interaction between windows update, kav and possibly backup exec - everytime we installed an update that modified win32k.sys and rebooted, we'd get this behavior. |

Hey guys,
Today we had the same issue on another server that run on server 2000, it sucked! We found a workaround, it seems kaspersky fail on windows server 2000 sp4 because it try to load itself before the OS and this break the server We had to change a regitry entry so it would no boot before the OS. It is pretty sad that kaspersky didn't fix this so far, and theres no warning anywhere! Windows server 2000 is still supported, and installing KAV server on a production machine will simply break the server upon reboot, this is bad, very bad. IMO, kaspersky should fix this! It's really not professional. Heres the workaround: 1) Boot in safe mode 2) Change the "Start" value to 0 --> [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\KLIF] "Start"=dword:00000000 This post has been edited by jmc79: 25.06.2009 17:54 |

I had the same experience, but i installed KAV 6.0.3.837 for Windows File Servers from Kaspersky Administration Kit. I solved this issue modifying the properties of installation package checking the box "Exclude Microsoft Areas (forgive my poor english, i use spanish version of Admin Kit)".
But my trick doesn't work only in one of twenty servers, so thank you so much for the workaround!!

Cheers!
