When I tried to load Ver: 2009 to my wife's computer, the results was that the machine would continually reboot.

I tried to uninstall KAS in the Safe mode. But, not all files were removed.

I would like to completely remove all KAS from her machine, reinstall ver:6 then retry the upgrade to ver: 2009.

Both of our machines are identical, OS is XP Home.

I have searched all the Registry for any mention of the word 'kaspersky' and removed all entries.

I have searched all the machine for any and all files/sub-folders with the name 'kaspersky', and tried to remove them. I keep getting ' no-access' errors.

Microsoft says that 'no-access' is an ownership and permissions issue.

Q1: What should be the ownership and permissions for the remaining files to remove?

Q2: How to remove all the remaining files ?

Q3: Do I need to go as far as to 'FORMAT' the whole disk and reinstall XP? ( I have excellent backups. )

Claude

Version 6 is no longer supported so I wouldn't try to re install that.

You might post a GSI report to see if there are conflicting programs on the computer and it will also show if remnant files remain from KAV. See here for instructions: How to post + how to help us with a log of - Kaspersky Lab Forum

You might also look at this: Upgrading to version 2009 from any previous version - Kaspersky Lab Forum

And see this: Errors Interpretation Database
